- Namba Parks:a shopping mall with a rooftop garden
There used to be a ball park, and you can still see the spots of the pitcher’s mound and a batter’s box.
Seasonal flowers make you refresh while browsing boutiques. - Yasaka Shrine: While Namba Yasaka Shrine is near the downtown, it has a quiet atmosphere that comes from its long history. Its unique lion-shaped stage is said to swallow your trouble with the big mouth.
- Doguyasuji Shopping Arcade:
You’ll know why Osaka is called“National Kitchen”while strolling the street.
You can find traditional culinary items unique to Japan and buy them at wholesale prices. - Kuromon Market:It is called Osaka’s Kitchen.
It’s packed with about 150 shops and very lively market with more than 100 years of history.
Enjoy grabbing a bite from various kinds of food shops. - National Bunraku Theater:Originated in Osaka in the seventeenth century, Bunraku, puppet drama, is a traditional Japanese performing art.
The theater has an exhibition room where you can see a demonstration and the construction of the puppets. - Dotombori : There are an unbelievable number of restaurants, shops and amusement facilities along the street. You can enjoy the hustle and bustle of Osaka here.

Shitennoji Course
Shitennoji is the oldest Buddhist temple in Japan. The Tennoji area has many ancient & futuristic buildings.

- Shitennouji Temple:The first state-established Buddhist temple in Japan.
It was founded in 593 by Prince Shotoku and is dedicated to the Four Guardian Kings, or Shitenno.
The stone archway is regarded as a symbol of the people’s faith in the temple and always welcomes you.

- Garden of Paradise : A Japanese-style garden with a pond and waterfalls.

- Rokuji-Do : There is a 400-year-old stone stage in front of the hall, one of the three great stone stages in Japan.
Bugaku or traditional Japanese court music and dancing is performed here on April 22.
- Tennouji Park: It is an urban oasis located next to Tennouji Station.
The park consists of a zoo, Museum of Fine Arts and a Japanese garden called Keitakuen.
The garden charms and delights visitors with its natural landscapes of the four seasons.
- Abeno Harukas:The new highest skyscraper of Japan.
With 300m high, rising 60 stories above the ground, the building looks like dominating the whole city,
and impresses the visitors with a diverse variety of shops, restaurants cafes& etc.

Meeting Place ~Depachika →subway(240yen/6min) ~Osaka Museum of History ~Otemon Gate ~Hokoku Shrine ~ Castle Tower ~Aoya gate(near Osakajo pier for Aqua-Liner)
- Depachika: It’s a nickname of the basement of the department store.
A food section is usually on the basement and is a kind like “food theme parks”.
- Osaka Museum of History: It was opened in 2001 and is rather a modern building.
This museum was built at the site of the ancient palace, and provides the visitors
with interesting historic experiences.
- Otemon Gate : The main gate of Osaka Castle
This magnificent gate always overwhelms all the visitors.
Enter from the Otemon Gate, where you can see the huge stone walls and moats of the castle.
- Houkoku Shrine: Located inside the Osaka Castle compound, this Shinto shrine was built in honor of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a famous warrior and daimyo (lord).
It is colorfully embellished from season to season, such as cherry blossoms and autumn leaves.
- Castle Tower : You can enter the Castle Tower Museum to get great panoramic views of Osaka
from the observatory, and experience being a warrior with its costume on the second floor

- Sumiyoshi Grand Shrine :Sumiyoshi Grand Shrine has a 1800-year-long history.
When the symbolic drumed bridge was first made, the coastline was near the entrance.
So the role of the bridge was to connect the shrine and the other side of the cove.
- 1,000 year-old camphor tree: It is regarded as a sacred tree.
Deep into the precincts, it’s believed to have a mysterious spiritual power.
- Local tram: It is called ‘Chin Chin tram’
This is the only remaining street tram in Osaka and has been operated for a hundred years.

- Umeda Sky Building: A spectacular high rise building known as the New Umeda City.
Selected by Time magazine as one of the top 20 buildings around the world, it gives a bird’s-eye view of Osaka City from the “Floating Garden Observatory” on the 40th floor. Beautiful at twilight.
(Admission fee:1,500 yen) - Grand Front Osaka: Osaka’s latest mega complex.
Built on the site of the JR freight station, it features hundreds of restaurants and stores and lies directly across from JR Osaka Station. There are unique restaurants in a large intellectual entertainment space. - Nakazaki-Cho: Nakazakicho has been under gentrification.
The town miraculously escaped from the damage during war time, one-hundred-year-old wooden houses survived intact and remains untouched by large-scale development.They have been renovated and are modern and unique inside. - Tenjinbashi-suji Shopping Arcade :It is the longest shopping arcade in Japan, and mainly for the local people.
So the items tend to be very reasonable and you’ll know how the common people manage their daily lives. - Museum of Housing and Living: It is located at the end of Tenjinbashi-suji Shopping Arcade.
Step back in time to ancient Edo and the more recent Showa Periods.
You can find a life-size re-creation on an Edo Period street and enjoy strolling the town with a kimono.

Meeting Place ~ Depachika ~ Midosuji Street ~ Tsuyunoten Shrine ~ Teki-juku (former Dutch studies school)~ Nakanoshima riverside ~ Osaka Castle
- Depachika: It’s a nickname of the basement of the department store.

kind of like “food theme parks”. You can enjoy Japanese rich food culture there.
- Midousuji:The main street that runs through Osaka city from north to south.
Symbolic gingko trees planted on both side are beautifully illuminated in winter.
- Tsuyunoten Shrine (Ohatsutenjin):A historical shrine in the downtown.
People also call the shrine Ohatsutenjin. It was named after the heroine of a famous sad love story happened
near here in the 18th century. Then it has become popular among young couples.
- Tekijuku:It was a school of Dutch studies opened in the 18th century.
The building is Japan’s only remaining school for studying Western science in Dutch.
Many historically famous figures studied there.
- Nakanoshima:This area has long been the center of business and culture since Edo Period.
Along the riverside, there used to be warehouses of feudal lords from all over Japan.
Walking along water’s edge of the river is relaxing and refreshing.
